Friyay Introductions: Meet Vasilisa!
You know how there are 24 hours in a day and everyone's always saying that's not enough? Our new intern Vasilisa tackles every hour each day with a go-getter attitude and not a single complaint. She thrives with a jam-packed schedule and is calm amidst the chaos of it all. She's assisted a few weddings in the past and absolutely crushed it (and she'll be working a few more before the semester's up)! I'm so glad to have met her through Madison Smith of Mia Grace Bridal earlier this year. Between her internship, practicing and coaching synchronized swimming, modeling and running her own small business, she's got a lot on her plate but she's always looking for ways to fill her calendar and make the most of her time in America. I'll be sad to see her go - her next stop is a big move to Buffalo, NY to jump-start her career and be with her boyfriend of 3 years. Read on to hear more about what Vas thinks about life in America, the wedding business and how she manages wearing so many hats below!
Sending Russian hugs to all of the SGO fans :) My name is Vasilisa Mironova. As you probably can guess, I am Russian and came to the USA straight from Moscow. Three years ago I moved here to study at Lindenwood University and pursue my undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a couple of emphases in marketing and entrepreneurial studies.
I’ve been doing synchronized swimming for 18 years. During that time I was awarded to be in the Russian Junior National team and win competitions like European and World Championships. I was a part of collegiate synchronized swimming team for 2 years, and won Collegiate Championship and US National Championships in several events. Synchronized swimming is definitely a big part of my life, it gave me the hard working mindset, great organization and punctuality, stress resistance, and made me be an overachiever in life. I still participate in synchronized swimming by coaching kids around the state.
I’m also a small business owner of a greeting cards company, Bellflower Crafts. I found my passion in handcrafting cards, albums, books and many other paper items when I was 16. Since then I grew as a person and as business owner. I managed to get attention from multiple stores in Moscow, St. Charles, St. Louis, and Buffalo NY. This aspect of my life taught me to be creative and responsible.
I am a planner in “real” life. It might sound funny, but I have a checklist to do for every little thing I have to do each day. My friends will definitely prove that!
I love creating designs, organizing and planning and I love helping people. With the genes of my mother being an interior designer, I find myself jumping to the wedding industry as a vendor and as a wedding planner.
I can’t wait to participate in the magical events and help people to reduce the stress of planning, designing, and coordinating a big day in their life. As a business administration and soon to be graduate student, it is typical to work in the office. But I want to be original by following my heart and running outside of office helping with events. It all might sound a little crazy, but it is who I am! You can call me Vas (so don’t struggle with pronouncing my full name), and I am so happy to be a part of SGO family!
