SGO Tip Tuesday: Dress to Impress (on a budget)!
I'm a woman who wishes her entire life could be lived wearing a dress, so helping my brides choose the perfect one to wear on their wedding day is one of my favorite things to do. Forget that despite the many tasks I juggle, being a stylist is not one of them — shopping for the perfect wedding gown is so fun and I'm totally on board to help when asked for advice! With so many great options out there, I often hear girls say that they feel silly spending a lot of cash on an outfit they'll wear only once, and that is something I can definitely understand. So in an effort to help those ladies out there who are shopping on a budget for their wedding wardrobe, I've created a short list of some jaw-dropping gowns that won't break the bank.
First up, BHLDN (sounds like "Beholden")
Anthropologie's wedding brand is a collection of seriously gorgeous gowns, shoes and accessories, and you just might be surprised at the price tag! The line is lot more affordable than you might think, which is one of the reasons I've recommended it to a couple of my brides. One of my brides named Katie ordered a couple of their gowns online and tried them on with her mom and her dog by her side. Although she didn't get the posh treatment with fancy concierge and champagne while trying on gowns at a local dress shop (BHLDN only has showrooms in select cities that don't include St. Louis), she got something even more special: an unforgettable moment at home with her closest allies as she found "THE" dress for her. This is one of my favorites in their current selection: the Leigh gown by Eddy K.
BHLDN even offers online assistance for stylistic and sizing advice, so be sure to consult with a BHLDN stylist when you're shopping on the site!
Mia Grace Bridal
The dreamiest bridal shop with the loveliest owners and stylists awaits you Chesterfield! They've got such a great collection of designers and styles and they carry some really affordable gowns by the designer Mori Lee (some just over $500)! The Mori Lee Voyage 6831 gown is a stunning satin dress with a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps that will surely make any bride feel like a princess. Make an appointment at Mia Grace Bridal to try this beauty on yourself!
David's Bridal has some great options, too
With fall right around the corner, I'm really looking forward to seeing brides wearing gorgeous lace-sleeved gowns. This is such an elegant look that will wow for years to come. In addition to being a total stunner, this style will keep a bride warm during those colder months. Check out David's Bridal for some seriously pretty lace-sleeved gowns like this one:
With multiple locations in St. Louis alone, you'll be sure to find a store near you!
Lulu's for the win
Of course, I couldn't leave out bridesmaids. I have an obsession (I mean full on obsession) with everything from Lulu's, and their evening gowns are to die for at the right price! You could literally dress up your best girls in any of their bridesmaids dresses and they would be feeling like Queens. Cue the "Slayyyyy" Instagram captions, because this is going to be good. These are a few of my absolute faves!
I can say from experience that Lulu's clothing is true to size and they have a great customer service team in the event you need to exchange an item. BONUS: these gorgeous gowns can be worn again and again. They definitely won't be shoved in the back of a closet! ANOTHER BONUS: You could totally mix and match these pretty little things. Carrie Bradshaw did it and so can you.
I hope this list of affordable wedding attire is helpful to you brides to be out there! Where did you find your perfect wedding gown? xoxo, G
